2004 Legacy Reining Breeders Sale
The Legacy Reining Breeders Sale has offered the best in yearling reining horses and broodmares since its inception, and the 2004 sale offers yet another opportunity to buy some of the best-bred prospects in the industry from the top breeders in the business.

This year's sale is on October 16, and will offer an unparalleled selection of outstanding reining stock. With consignments from Green Valley Ranch, Kyle Ranch, Dell Hendricks Reining Horses, McQuay Stables, Gary Putman Performance Horses, Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses and Scott McCutcheon, the 2004 Legacy Sale catalog boasts an impressive array of over 85 horses.

With consignment horses sired by and bred to top performance horse sires such as Hollywood Dun It, Lil Ruf Peppy, Smart Starbuck, Reminic N Dunit, Mega Jac, Todaysmyluckyday, Tejons Peppy Doc, Taris Catalyst, Starlights Wrangler, and Hollywood Jac 86, this year's sale is full of promising talent.

The sale also includes several horses from guest consignor Kebra Ranch, with the bloodlines of NRHA Hall of Fame stallion Gunner and NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion, Mifillena.

The first 9 lots of the Legacy Sale comprise the TLC Farms dispersal, which includes Smart Great Dude. This 3-year-old show stallion, sired by Lil Ruf Peppy and out Miss Great Dude, was a high placer at the ultra-competitive Tulsa Classic Open Futurity and is one of Tom McCutcheon's top three futurity mounts for the NRHA Futurity this November.

2003 was the first year Legacy Sale graduates entered the show pen, with a large percentage of past consignees making their mark. Perhaps the most noticeable sale graduate was Starbucks Sidekick. This talented gray stallion shone brightly in futurity competition with Dell Hendricks at the helm, capturing both the KRHA Sunflower Slide Open Futurity Co-Championship and the AQHA Congress Open Reining Futurity Championship. The duo went on to make the NRHA Open Futurity Finals, as well as the 2004 NRHA Open Derby and NRBC Finals. Altogether, Starbucks Sidekick, who is sired by Smart Starbuck and out of the Hollywood Dun It mare Dun It For Chex, has earned over $79,000 in less than a year's time.

This early success, along with other that of other Legacy Sale consignees, gives testament to the quality of horses consigned to the sale, according to NRHA Hall Of Fame trainer, Tim McQuay.

"This is exactly what our goal was for the Legacy Sale. We wanted to create a sale where we consign great yearlings that achieve success in the show pen," explained McQuay. "We are consigning top yearlings out of exceptional mares. In fact, there has been over 40 performers from the last 2 sales, which is an unbelievable percentage."

In a continuation of that tradition, the 2004 Legacy Sale offers many yearlings from proven crosses. Among those are Popcorn, a yearling full sister to NRHA Futurity Champion Tootsie Pop. It also offers Lil Cow Paddie, a yearling mare by Lil Ruf Peppy and out of the mega-producing mare, Silversnow Pinestep-dam of Congress Futurity Champion, Einstein.

Other consignments include Von Wrangler, a yearling stallion by NRBC Champion Starlights Wrangler, and out of the NRHA #5 All Time Leading Dam Von Freckles, who produced NRHA Open Futurity Champion, Von Reminic.

All yearlings in the 2004 sale are enrolled in the NRBC and the sale is strictly a black-type sale. Every broodmare in the sale is either a performer or producer. Likewise, all the sale yearlings are out of producing or performing mares.

The 2004 sale will officially kick off Friday night, October 15 with a Welcome party and Legacy Sale Open House 5 pm at Green Valley Ranch. Sale horses will be available for preview at that time as well. Farm tours of consignor ranches to view reference stallions will be Wed-Fri, October 13-15.
